Mike Lyons, President and CEO
After joining VisionAIR in June of 2002 as VisionAIR’s Chief Operating Officer, Mike Lyons has served as President and Chief Executive Officer for VisionAIR since October of 2004. Over the past several years, he has led the transformation of VisionAIR into a growing, profitable company with high client satisfaction. Mr. Lyons leads the company’s staff and the efforts of serving the company’s growing client base to enhance their long-term use of VisionAIR’s solutions to improve their quality of life.
Mr. Lyons is very devoted to public safety, so he is an active participant in industry organizations, and he encourages the staff to do the same. Currently, he is the Vice President of the IJIS Board of Directors and serves on the Executive Committee of that organization. He is also a member of APCO.
Previously, Mr. Lyons was with Printrak, where he was the General Manager and VP for the Public Safety CAD and Records Management Division. Mr. Lyons also served as VP of Operations. He was instrumental in the creation of the infrastructure that supported the company’s growth in the 1990s. Under his management, the CAD and Records Division grew four-fold, strengthened its relationships with clients, and integrated into the Motorola parent structure following Printrak’s acquisition in 2001.
Prior to Printrak, Mr. Lyons served in operations management roles for Micro General Corporation and Western Digital Corporation, both in southern California.
Gary Bunyard, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Gary Bunyard was recently appointed as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for VisionAIR. Mr. Bunyard has been a public safety industry leader in sales and executive management for over 20 years.
He was previously with Tiburon, Inc., where he held numerous leadership positions throughout the company, including President/CEO as well as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Through his energy, commitment to clients, and continuous focus on business development, Mr. Bunyard was a driving force in that company's growth and success over many years.
Prior to Tiburon, Mr. Bunyard worked in sales and sales management for the IBM Corporation, predominately in the state and local government marketplace. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Scott MacDonald, Vice President of Product Management
Scott MacDonald was recently appointed as Vice President of Product Management for VisionAIR. Mr. MacDonald has been managing the planning and delivery of public safety software solutions for over ten years.
He comes to VisionAIR from Motorola, Inc., where he directed the product teams in the design, development and delivery of a next generation suite of Public Safety Applications. Drawing on the combination of his vision for public safety automation and a detailed knowledge of the current and future technology needs of its clients, his leadership was instrumental in the successful introduction of a technologically advanced next generation platform.
Previously, Mr. MacDonald managed the technical marketing team and CAD product line for Printrak, which was later acquired by Motorola. Mr. MacDonald earned a degree in Management from Northeastern University prior to serving in the United States Air Force.
Samuel Hensley, Executive Director of Finance
Samuel Hensley is the Executive Director of Finance and Secretary for VisionAIR. In this role, Mr. Hensley oversees the Finance Department including management of the Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, and Network IT functions. In addition to maintaining the company's fiscal records, Mr. Hensley also maintains cash management activities and investor relations.
Prior to joining VisionAIR in 1998, Mr. Hensley served as an accountant for a public accounting firm in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. In this role, his duties included income tax preparations and auditing activities.
Mr. Hensley graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1996.
Mitzi Kincaid, Director of Legal Relations and Risk Management
Mitzi Kincaid is VisionAIR’s General Counsel. She is responsible for legal, contracts, risk management, human resources and corporate activities.
Prior to joining VisionAIR, Ms. Kincaid helped start BellSouth’s cellular phone company in 1996 as a regional financial analyst in Charlotte. She moved to Raleigh in 1999 and worked for the North Carolina State Treasurer as an auditor and then with Bell+Howell, an international company specializing in mail sorting machines where she worked in management prior to attending law school.
Ms. Kincaid is a member of the North and South Carolina Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, the New Hanover County Bar Association and is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.
As an active member of the community, she volunteers with the American Heart Association and is Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Cape Fear Communities in Schools. Ms. Kincaid is also a member of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Employer Advisory Board and a member of the Cameron Executive Network, where she mentors students and guest lectures on campus for the Cameron School of Business.
Ms. Kincaid earned a J.D. from North Carolina Central School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Mark Andrews, Director of Operations
As VisionAIR’s Director of Operations, Mark Andrews leads VisionAIR’s Project Management, Client Management, Training, and Installations teams. Since joining VisionAIR in 2002, Mr. Andrews has emphasized the need to automate and improve the services VisionAIR provides to its clients.
A member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), Mr. Andrews ensures all VisionAIR Project Managers are PMI Certified or earn their certification within one year.
Prior to joining VisionAIR, Mr. Andrews served as Director of Development Projects for Broadband Technologies in Research Triangle Park, NC. At BroadBand, he led corporate R&D projects for three generations of broadband transport systems designed to deliver integrated voice, data and video service via fiber optics to residential customers.
Mr. Andrews holds a BSEET degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has completed graduate studies in Computer Science, Data Communications, and Business Management.
Jeff Beard, Director of Software Development
Jeff Beard serves as Director of Software Development for VisionAIR. In this role, Mr. Beard leads the company’s Software Development, Custom Development, Product Test, and Maintenance functions. The Software Development team designs and develops solutions and applications that provide long-term value to the Public Safety industry.
Mr. Beard is a member the IJIS NIBRS/N-DEx Advisory Committee. This committee collaborates with the FBI and state-level agencies to improve, expand, and make viable the National Incident-Based Reporting Systems (NIBRS) or its replacement and the N-DEx program. He also serves on the University of North Carolina at Wilmington IS/CS Advisory Board.
He was previously with Nortel Networks, a worldwide provider of telecommunications software and equipment. During this 10 year tenure he served in maintenance, sustaining, development, product test, and product test management roles.
Mr. Beard earned a B.S. degree in pure mathematics from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
Wendy Gilbert, Director of Product Management
Wendy Gilbert serves as VisionAIR’s Director of Product Management. Since joining VisionAIR in 1999, Ms. Gilbert has emphasized the need to deliver competitive solutions that meet the needs of VisionAIR’s user community across the country.
Prior to VisionAIR, Ms. Gilbert worked as a Systems Analyst for Anderson Associates in North Carolina.
Ms. Gilbert holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelors of Science in Production and Decision Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Bob Koenig, Director of Sales
In the role of Director of Sales, Bob Koenig focuses on bringing VisionAIR solutions to new clients and enhancing the experience for existing clients. Since joining the company in 2004, Mr. Koenig has provided the organization with his well-respected insight and domain expertise of the Public Safety industry, which benefits the entire company as well as the sales team.
Dedicated to advancing the public safety industry, Mr. Koenig is a member of: APCO, NCJA, NENA, AMA, and IACP. Furthermore, is resides on the IJIS Governance Committee as well as the APCO Commercial Advisory Committee.
He was previously with Independence Communications, Inc., where he was the Founder and Manager of the Major Projects Division. This division was created in 1999 to focus on Systems Integration for Public Safety Agencies, primarily 9-1-1 Centers and Mobile Data Systems. This division grew from $500,000 in revenue its first year to over $10,000,000.00 in revenue in 2003.
Prior to Independence Communications, Inc., Mr. Koenig served as Vice President of Sales for VCR Lab in Northeast Ohio. Mr. Koenig earned a degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
