Basic Purpose

The VP of Sales & Marketing oversees the company’s strategic sales and marketing activities, policies, objectives and initiatives. Responsible for leading and contributing to strategic direction of the company and understanding its market, customers and end users. Performs a variety of senior management duties related to the generation and closure of sales to existing and new clients. Has responsibility for leading the business development efforts of the company to include working with partners, investors and industry leaders to execute on the company’s strategic plan. Reviews changes to the marketplace and public safety industry and adjusts plans accordingly. Works with strategic partners to develop plans for selling and promoting products in the market. The position is responsible for managing the image, reputation and awareness of the company in the marketplace and with the investor community. Under this person’s leadership, sales guides, sales programs and product literature are developed in coordination with Sales management. Leads and directs the work of direct reports including sales executives, market managers, event /public relations coordinators and graphic designers. Works with executives to identify, develop, and implement effective and productive sales and marketing strategies. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected; this individual is responsible for resource allocation, including budget and personnel. Typically has a minimum of 12 years of experience in a related role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the hiring and development of the sales and marketing organization.
  • Provide leadership and manage the activities of the Sales, Marketing, and Documentation departments.
  • Be a role model for the company’s culture
  • Establish compensation, training and sales incentive programs
  • Drive the development of national sales strategies – including pricing, discounts and channel strategies
  • Maintaining key customer relationships and develop and implement strategies for expanding the company’s customer base
  • Directs company's advertising and PR activities with a goal of establishing and maintaining a favorable image with investors, potential customers, employees and the public.
  • Manages overall sales process and sets appropriate metrics for sales funnel management.
  • Leads and participates in business development activities including strategic relationships, mergers and acquisitions .
  • Participates as a senior manager within the executive management team to help make strategic decisions, set policy and manage the daily tactical efforts of the company.
  • Organize, lead and execute on lead programs.
  • Provides sales forecasts and business plans to the company’s management team and board
Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing or related field. Advanced degree in business or marketing desirable. Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of sales and marketing experience in a senior management capacity in the software development market, preferably within the Public Safety software industry. The successful candidate will provide integrity based leadership dealing with a rapidly moving marketplace, prioritizing opportunities and managing the company’s growth

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Business management, public relations and management of strategic partners forecasting and market analysis skills. Excellent time management, interpersonal, strong communications, presentation and organization skills. Must be a decision maker that gets things accomplished. Must have the ability to inspire and motivate employees, clients and investors.

Must be familiar with GSA schedules and government procurement practices within the state and local government

This individual will be experienced in enterprise software, and technology sales.

Equipment and Applications

Knowledge of CRM systems Microsoft Office and other PC and handheld applications. Knowledge regarding leading SQL database management systems is a plus. Knowledge of applications specific to the public safety industry is desired.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment. Considerable stress may occur. Travel 30% - 50% of time. No special physical demands required.

Title: Product Test Manager

Basic Purpose

Manages one or more teams of product test engineers. Ensures that the companys products meet total quality management standards and other reliability standards. Is responsible for test hardware and virtual test lab. Researches and implements new or improved testing methods, processes, tools, and systems. Develops and coordinates appropriate test procedures. Manages highly trained staff. Requires seven to ten years of experience in software development, four years in product test with at least one year of project leadership experience. Reports to the Director of Engineering. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages and coordinates the development and approval of:
    • Detailed test plans that present the goals of testing, test systems, and a final schedule
    • Detailed documentation plans that present the goal of the documentation, audience, components of documentation, page design, detailed outlines, and a final schedule.
    • All modular review and technical review drafts.
    • Usability testing of documentation during beta.
    • Manages personnel activities of staff (i.e., hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination as necessary, etc.)
  • Researches and implements new documentation and testing methods and tools in order to maximize operations efficiency.
  • Performs testing and writing duties as needed
Essential Education, Skills, Environment
Education and Work Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science or related field; may have post-graduate education or training or equivalent experience. Typically requires 7 to 10 years of experience in software development, four years in product test, with at least one year of project leadership experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Excellent management skills with ability to effectively direct the companys quality assurance operations. Public safety application knowledge preferred. Strong knowledge of automated testing and documentation requirements. Excellent time management and problems solving skills. Strong knowledge of software development process including Waterfall Iterative and Agile methods.

Windows Operating Systems to include but not limited to Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. MSSQL 7.0, MSSQL 2000, MSSQL 2005, Citrix, MS Clustering, Legato, MS Virtualization, VMWare, Borland Starteam, Mercury Test Director, Borland Calibre, Mercury LoadRunner / Quick Test Pro or equivalent test automation applications

Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment. Considerable stress may occur at times. No special physical demands required. Travel up to 15%
